One crucial part of a student's learning experience is taking written notes. Handwritten notes capture what they have learned in class or extract information afterward for reflection and a more robust learning impact. It is beneficial when reviewing. You intend to quantify and separate handwritten notes into several components, like text, charts, mathematical expressions, etc., to assess the notes' condition and compare them between students. In addition, information on students' course-related learning behaviors, including attendance, online quiz results, textbook usage, and course grade, is gathered via the online education platform. This study examines the correlation between learning behavior and the categorization outcomes of handwritten notes. It also reports research on automatic page segmentation using deep learning.
Handwritten notes are efficient
Regarding input methods, handwriting is more practical than the keyboard for recording formulas, diagrams, and unique marks. It is particularly more practical in disciplines like math or chemistry with a higher percentage of non-text information. The second most important factor influencing success in electrical engineering and other subjects after reading habits is note-taking habits.
